About Me . . . |
I am originally from Newark, NY and born in Rochester, NY. I moved to Walworth, NY in 1981 and have lived in and traveled to various places throughout the world.
I attended Gananda Central School District graduating as salutatorian. I attended Fordham University at Rose Hill in the Bronx, NY and majored in Middle Eastern Studies. I haven't always lived in Wayne County. I have also lived in and visited Cairo (in Egypt), The Netherlands, United Kingdom, NYC, Daytona, Orlando, and Fairport. I currently run a wildlife and exotic animal center where I focus on canids and mustelids. Incorporated into the service my center provides for the community, it also provides permanent sanctuary for a number of wild and exotic animals. My facility is currently licensed by the USDA. I speak Arabic and French along with, of course, my native tongue of English. I am the most attracted to cultures, people, fields and industries which are not common. I've studied in the Middle East during my undergraduate years spent at Fordham. While attending the American University in Cairo, I specialized in Islamic thought and theology. I also volunteered at a local church by teaching English to refugees predominantly from the horn of Africa. |

By 1997, I graduated with a Master of Science degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and worked in the field of data sourcing and database implementation with large corporate systems. Thus I am keen on data, metadata, how to use it and organize it. Such skills have proven invaluable to me during my current endeavor of litigating against individuals and the Environmental Conservation Department of New York State. A person's case is only as good as her data and the integrity with which it is retrieved and maintained once in custody. This is a concept which assists me in legal research as I continue on with litigation, especially as it affects constitutional rights and civil liberties.
My future goals are to continue with litigation (which has already began) and reform the public attention wildlife and exotic animals attract from the Department of Environmental Conservation and special interest groups with which the Department are associated. Our political system in this state has become one of exclusion rather than inclusion, unfortunately.
I am happy to be working with animals again since my past rescue efforts of rabbits and ferrets. I have also worked with veterinarians on both sides of the examination table. I have learned a lot from the veterinarians with whom I still confer from time to time as well as their ancillary staff members.
My professional work in the veterinary field has been solely in New York State. The disciplines in which I have experience are oncology, surgical & post-recovery, emergency and ophthalmology. I have also taken many courses in a curriculum for a B.S. in Registered Nursing and worked in a pre-hospital care setting volunteering my time to local ambulance corps. Eventually I ended up working for a couple in Rochester.
I hope to see the reform needed in our state's agencies and treatment of the public. We live in the most claustrophobic state in terms of the vast number of restrictions placed upon our lifestyles, interests, liberties and rights. I hope to be a positive influence on alleviating some of these restrictions which are not enforced properly or sometimes at all. Hopefully, with my continued effort and work with others with similar concerns, the state governance will improve its relationship with its residents and become more welcoming and less threatened of the diversity inherent in such a melting pot of cultures, influences, skill sets and belief systems.
